Pop Princesses Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera could soon be heading to the Dominican Republic, it has been reported.

According to Dominican Today, the songstresses, along with Pink, Rihanna and the Jonas Brothers, could all be heading on holiday to the nation as part of their gift bag from the recent MTV Video Music Awards.

In the bags, along with thousands of pounds worth of jewellery and gadgets, was an all-inclusive, four-night stay in the Dominican Republic region of Puerto Plata.

A host of high-profile visitors to the area could boost tourism, which would be good news for anyone with a Caribbean off-plan property investment.

Meanwhile, the news provider recently reported that tourism in the nation increased during the first three months of 2008, with 6.55 per cent more people choosing it as their holiday destination than in 2007.

Figures from the country’s Ministry of Tourism show that the majority of the tourist came from the US, followed by Canada.

At that MTV awards show the other night, according to In Touch Weekly, Christina Aguilera demanded vanilla-scented candles and four black bath towels for her dressing room. The lady also required a space heater and two bottles of Veuve Clicquot Champagne.

Since winning the 2006 X-Factor, the Hackney lass has taken the world by storm. The 23-year-old strutted her stuff with rapper Lil Wayne at the MTV Awards last weekend but she told us: “I was more nervous at the after-show party. I was performing and the place was full of celebrities.

“Just before I was due to go on the organiser came over and said ‘Christina Aguilera has asked to sit on the front row as she wants to see you and there is Paris, Mischa Barton…’. I must have looked like I was panicking as my assistant pulled me away.”

Leona will also be going back on the X-Factor. She said: “Simon’s asked me to go on this series and I can’t wait. But I’d never be a judge. No matter how bad people were I’d just put them through.”

When Blender Magazine asked her about Christina Aguilera’s performance at the 2008 Video Music Awards she said:

“A lot of people have been saying that she is copying my style with her new song. I guess it bares somewhat of a resemblance but I wouldn’t say she is copying me. This type of dance music is becoming more popular and I don’t blame her for wanting to make and perform it. Her performance was great and it’s {Keeps Gettin Better} a hot track.”
