This marks Christina’s 4th Top 10 Debut.

“Keeps Gettin’ Better - A Decade of Hits” is a Top 10 Album in the UK and Australia and the #2 album in Japan.

It’s already Certified Platinum in Ireland and Gold in the UK and Singapore.

Christina was recently named one of Rolling Stone Magazine’s “100 Greatest Singers of All Time” and has the distinct honor of being the only person under 30 to receive the honor.

At rehearsals this week for the 36th Annual American Music Awards at the Nokia Theatre, one of the key executives for the show gushed that Sunday night’s broadcast will have 19 performances, a record number: “We called everyone on our dream list and they all said ‘Yes,’ so we just had to make room!” That effusive appraisal was met with a smile and a shrug by graybeard Al Schwartz, a consulting producer who has worked on the show since the Nixon administration.

“Well, it is a great year, but the stars are coming because they need it more than ever. Albums don’t sell like they used to. And even with the stars we have a tough fight ahead of us: There’s the premiere of ‘24′ and there’s football on.”

These are strange days for traditional music awards shows. The recording industry is still reeling, the concert-touring business is in retreat and television audiences have made it quite clear that their fascination lies with shows that create new celebrities, not the ones that honor existing stars.

Christina Aguilera will open the American Music Awards on November 23 with a seven-minute medley of her greatest hits, Usmagazine.com has learned exclusively.

The opening number will include “Genie in a Bottle,” “Fighter”, “Beautiful,” “Keeps Getting Better” and “Dirrty,” a source close to the show tells Us.

Other performers: Miley Cyrus, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Rihanna as well as Mariah Carey, with whom Aguilera she famously feuded in 2006.

“We are very excited to have Christina Aguilera perform at this years show,” Dick Clark Productions President Orly Adelson told Us in a statement. “She raises the bar with each live performance and you can expect something special at the 2008 ‘American Music Awards.’”

This will mark singer’s second performance since giving birth to 11-month-old son Max.

Four-time GRAMMY(R) winner Christina Aguilera is the latest performer added to “The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night(R),” the new one-hour special that for the first time ever will announce nominations for the annual GRAMMY Awards on primetime television, and also will celebrate the grand opening of the GRAMMY MuseumSM at L.A. LIVE. Two-time GRAMMY winner LL Cool J and 50th GRAMMY nominee Taylor Swift will co-host, and previously announced performers include five-time GRAMMY winner Mariah Carey, five-time GRAMMY winner Celine Dion, the six-time GRAMMY-winning Foo Fighters, 14-time GRAMMY winner B.B. King, five-time GRAMMY winner John Mayer, and Swift. “The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!!” takes place on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE, and will be broadcast in HDTV and 5.1 Surround Sound on the CBS Television Network from 9 — 10 p.m. ET/PT.
